Shay Owode

Shay supports trustees and sponsors across several co-trustee and corporate sole trustee defined benefit scheme clients with assets ranging from £5m to £2bn.

Background

Shay joined us in January 2021. In addition to his responsibilities supporting several co-trustee and corporate sole trustee clients, Shay also forms part of our growing talent pool with experience in corporate events (including transactions and restructurings), alternative risk transfer solutions and employer covenant matters.

Shay started his career in 2015 after graduating university, completing a one-year work placement as a credit analyst at UBS as part of his degree. Prior to entering the pensions industry, he spent two years in middle office roles across investment banking and private equity.

Beginning his pensions career in 2018 with Lincoln Pensions (now Cardano Advisory), Shay worked on employer covenant matters including covenant assessments for triennial valuations, subsequent negotiations and periodic integrated risk management monitoring reports. He has assisted sponsors and trustees across a range of special situations including event-driven mergers and acquisitions (M&A), in-depth affordability assessments, individual payment plan negotiations, apportionment arrangements, Pension Protection Fund (PPF) certification reviews and engagement meetings with the PPF and/or the Pensions Regulator (TPR).

Shay is passionate about youth engagement, equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I), social mobility and social justice and works on initiatives tackling issues within these areas. Otherwise, Shay can be found celebrating with friends and family (usually at another wedding), on a long walking trail/hiking trip or searching for his next holiday destination!
