Simon Riviere

Simon is a professional pension trustee to a portfolio of defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) pension schemes, including a hybrid scheme, schemes in wind-up and schemes heading to buy out. He chairs two Governance Advisory Arrangements (GAAs), as well as looking after Vidett on the data protection side of things, and is a key member for our internal service lines.

Background

Simon joined the team in 2014 and is a defined contribution (DC) specialist and governance specialist, where he is a trustee director for a DC master trust, chair of trustees for a hybrid scheme with an open DC-section, as well as the chair for two small DC schemes which are scam arrangements and in wind-up. In his role at Vidett, Simon also chairs two Governance Advisory Arrangements (GAAs) for their contract-based DC schemes (see above).

Simon started his pensions career in the investment team of a corporate trustee. He then worked for a number of trustee firms and organisations including the pensions insolvency team at audit firm Grant Thornton, a complaints adjudicator at the Pensions Ombudsman, senior consultant at JLT, pensions manager at Osborne Clarke, senior manager at another trustee firm before joining us to concentrate on professional trusteeship.

Simon has acted as trustee, secretary to the trustees and consultant for a wide variety of DB and DC schemes. He has also held senior roles with other trustee firms, where he was instrumental in helping one firm attain its AAF/01 accreditation and develop new business for another trustee firm.

Simon was Chairman of Reading Joggers, his local running club for 10 years, and has completed many marathons, half-marathons and over 300 parkruns including many overseas. He is also an England Athletics qualified Run Leader, regularly taking groups of runners on evening and weekend runs. Other interests include travel, family, pets, learning Spanish, and playing the piano – where he is attempting grade 3! w

Accredited Professional Trustee (PTPMI), Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute (FPMI), Award in Pension Trusteeship, Business Studies (BA Hons).
