Joining us in 2020, Stuart bought with him over 30 years’ experience in pensions, alongside a unique blend of skills in trustee, corporate and advisory roles. Previously head of pensions for Wincanton plc, Stuart had responsibility for the executive oversight and strategic leadership of the company’s defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) schemes. Stuart was part of Wincanton’s leadership team and understands how pension schemes fit into the wider corporate environment and how decisions are made. Stuart is very experienced in managing stakeholder groups at all levels.

Throughout his career, Stuart has created and led trustee service teams, ran his own trustee business and successfully represented a corporate trustee to over 40 pension schemes, leading consultation and negotiation with employers on scheme funding and corporate-related activities. He takes great pride in consistently achieving positive outcomes, often in complex and distressed cases, by skilfully balancing competing objectives with his methodical and analytical approach to help achieve buy in from key stakeholders.

Stuart is a very experienced, commercially minded and pragmatic pensions professional who focuses on collaborative and fresh thinking with a view to delivering good outcomes for all parties. He focuses on building trustworthy relationships with sponsors, managing advisers and making sensible decisions.

In his personal life, Stuart likes keeping active – so has played football for most of his life and is now a keen fell runner. He is often seen running around Scout Moor: the second largest onshore wind farm in England! Always on the move, he also enjoys walking adventures with his family, and exploring other countries with sunnier climes.
