Vidett expands team with new appointments across the UK

We’ve appointed three new team members as part of our ongoing UK expansion. Clare Routledge and Michael Smith join the Manchester office, while Rachel Marston strengthens the team in Birmingham.

Clare joins as client director to work across Yorkshire and the North-East region, bringing 25 years’ experience of working with employers and trustees on a wide variety of pension issues in both the public and private sector. Prior to joining, Clare was a director at PwC advising corporate clients on funding, long-term journey planning, endgame solutions, corporate transactions and asset-backed funding solutions. She has also worked at Deloitte where she was their restructuring lead; working on a number of high-profile distressed restructuring cases. She also completed a six-month secondment with Brightwell (the new name for BT Pension Scheme Management) as head of risk and compliance.

Michael joins the governance team in Manchester as assistant manager and will assist Vidett’s client directors with all aspects within the defined benefit (DB) and defined contribution (DC) landscape. He joins from XPS where he looked after twenty schemes, three larger schemes directly, and the remainder through the team he managed. He began his career in pensions eight years ago, administering the civil service pension scheme with MyCSP Limited, before moving to KPMG and then Mercer.

Rachel is appointed as manager in Birmingham and brings almost 20 years’ experience in pension administration. Prior to joining she was senior administration manager at Buck for five years, and before that spent over 14 years at Mercer as an administration services manager. In these roles, Rachel dealt with all aspects of DB and DC administration; from complex calculations and member complaints, to working closely with trustee boards to implement new communication strategies and online member portals.

Commenting on the appointments, Naomi L’Estrange, Co-Chief Executive at Vidett, stated:

We are thrilled to welcome three highly talented individuals to Vidett. At PwC, Clare created the Virtual Ideas Exchange, a series of quarterly interactive educational webinars for trustees and pensions managers. Michael’s career has seen him working with several large DB and DC schemes, as well as pitching and winning new business at XPS.

“In her last role, Rachel was involved in completing internal audits of processes, as well as helping streamline processes and reviewing complex cases. All three will add value to our clients and help Vidett to go from strength to strength.”
