Charity golf day raises £11,000 for National Amyloidosis Centre

In August of this year, almost 100 people attended a charity golf day in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, to raise awareness for Amyloidosis. Among these were our client directors Jim Robson and Tom Stockley.

The event was organised by Dave and Archie Shannon in honour of their wife and mother Lisa who unfortunately passed away from Amyloidosis in 2021. The event aimed to increase awareness for this rare disease, raising a whopping £11,000 for the National Amyloidosis Centre at the Royal Free Hospital, the only UK centre that specialises in much needed Amyloidosis research.

Amyloidosis is hard to treat and due to it’s rareness, many medical professionals are unaware of this illness, resulting in late or even inexistent diagnoses.

The event was filled with golf, food, presentations and a charity raffle/auction. With the proceeds going toward the National Amyloidosis Centre, the £11,000 raised will make a huge impact toward future research and treatments.

Tom Stockley, one of our client directors that attended the golf day said “It was a special day, so many people turned up in support of the cause. It’s nice to know that the money raised will go make such a big impact and toward much needed Amyloidosis research at the Royal Free hospital”.
