Since we formed Vidett back in February 2023, we have been working towards updating our company’s IT framework, which has seen all of our team’s laptops upgraded. This also meant we had some of our original equipment was left without a home. This is where The Turing Trust enters our story.
Alan Turing
You may recognise the name Turing? It was the surname of Alan Turing, a famous British mathematician; best known for cracking the Nazi code during World War II, whilst battling adversity in his personal life. He’s widely considered as the father of modern computing, with his amazing story bought told in the film, The Imitation Game (2014). His face also features on £50 banknotes too.
The Turing Trust
In honour of the great man, The Turing Trust was founded by Alan’s family, as they continue his legacy by using technology to empower disadvantaged communities; refurbishing IT equipment, installing educational software and providing it to those who need it most.
As a result of our donation, The Turing Trust confirmed all the great things this would help achieve:

Off the back of the donation, John Rogers (interim director of IT) commented: “It’s great that we were able to give our old laptops a new lease of life, and that schools with little money to spare can equip their students with these valuable tools for learning about the world around them. All credit must go to Sarah Edwards for all her hard work and persistence in getting all these laptops back and for sending them on to the Turing Trust.”
Co-chief executive Naomi L’Estrange, added: “Our work with The Turing Trust encapsulates our values at Vidett, so it’s great to see the postive impact our donations will make. A special thank you goes to John and Sarah for making this happen. We look forward to continuing to support this fantastic initiative in the future!”
