actuarial • defined benefit (DB) • ESG • fiduciary management • investment strategy • liability driven investment

Sophia is an experienced investment consultant, qualified actuary and professional pension trustee with an enthusiastic and pragmatic approach to sustainability.

Background

Joining us in the midst of the gilt crisis in 2022, Sophia was able to provide significant investment support to the team from day one; looking after a range of DB clients under both sole trustee and chair of trustee appointments.

Sophia’s career in pensions actually started back in 2006, when she trained to be an actuary with Punter Southall, before moving to P-Solve (now Schroders Solutions) a few years later. It’s here she started working more in investment; focusing on derivatives – liability driven investment (LDI) and structured equity. Her investment roles had strong focus on responsible investment and ESG analysis, which Sophia used to assist trustees in determining their responsible investment beliefs and developing ways to reflect those beliefs in investment portfolios.

Before joining us in 2022, Sophia spent two years at Insight Asset Management as a client director, where she was responsible for relationships with large institutional investors. She also worked for Cardano and Barnett Waddingham in roles as a senior investment consultant within fiduciary and advisory governance models, LDI portfolio manager and LDI manager researcher.

In her spare time, Sophia enjoys open water swimming and “practicing what she preaches” by learning to live more sustainably.
