James Chalk

James joined us as a professional trustee in December 2020. He is a member of both the restructuring and risk transfer teams and is currently involved in a large number of risk transfer projects, with schemes ranging from £10m to £150m in assets – all of which are seeking to fully secure members’ benefits with an insurer.

James started his career in corporate restructuring. He then entered the pensions industry in 2007 as an employer covenant advisor. He has previously been a senior covenant advisor at firms including BDO and PwC, advising trustees and sponsors on employer covenant in relation to scheme valuations, corporate transactions and restructuring situations. During his 14 years as an employer covenant advisor, James advised schemes ranging from £5m to £1bn in assets.

In his spare time, James is a keen (but highly average) golfer and fan of Southampton FC! Any other time is usually spent with his family walking, watching movies and generally keeping his young daughter smiling and entertained.
